This is an opportunity to develop software for advanced embedded and real-time applications within a highly innovative engineering environment. You will contribute throughout the software lifecycle, supporting system integration, verification activities, and the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
Location: Plymouth
On-site Requirement: 3 Days Per Week
Seniority: 5+ Years Experience
Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software applications.
- Support software architecture, coding, testing, and verification activities.
- Integrate software with hardware platforms and wider system architectures.
- Debug and optimise software performance across target environments.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and design artefacts.
- Collaborate with systems, electronics, and test engineering teams.
Required Skills
- Proven experience developing embedded software using C and/or C++ within complex engineering environments.
- Experience working with Linux-based or real-time operating systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and lifecycle development processes.
- Experience integrating software with hardware platforms and supporting system-level integration activities.
- Knowledge of software verification, validation, debugging, and performance optimisation techniques.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Strong technical documentation and review capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using Git or similar version control tools.
- Knowledge of sensor integration and data processing applications.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience working within requirements-driven engineering environments.
