What You’ll Do As part of our AI Engineering team, you will operate at the intersection of technology, product, and business - shaping how AI is applied across all of AECOM. You will turn ideas into validated solution concepts, helping the organization understand what is possible, valuable, and feasible. - Identify and shape AI opportunities across the business - Assess feasibility by balancing technical capability, business value, and complexity - Design and build prototypes, demos, and MVPs - Translate problems into structured approaches and PRDs - Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and domain experts - Explore emerging AI models and tools - Support the lifecycle from concept to production handover - Operate flexibly across demos, prototyping, and exploration As a AI Solution Engineer you might run a demo, support operational challenges, explore the latest LLM capabilities, join workshops, make discovery calls, and sometimes just spend a full day building PoCs and MVPs. No two days are the same Must-Have Qualifications - Degree in computer science, software engineering, innovation/entrepreneurship/technology or a related technical field or equivalent demonstrable experience - Background in AI, engineering, data, product or consulting (mindset matters more than title) - Understanding of AI/LLM capabilities and limitations, and familiarity with AI tooling (LLMs, APIs, MCPs, RAG systems) - Ability to build prototypes using Python, web frameworks and similar tools, with good understanding of the idea-prototype-production lifecycle - Experience translating ideas into structured approaches or prototypes, assess feasibility and communicate trade-offs Preferred Skills - Experience working with senior stakeholders to shape solutions - Experience translating ideas into structured approaches or prototypes - High-level understanding of cloud platforms, containers, and backend system - Exposure to finance, operations, or commercial work
