We are looking for an experienced Yard Shunter to join our Worksop depot. This is a dedicated yard-based role, ideal for someone who has previous shunting experience and is looking for a stable, consistent shunting position rather than a driving role on the road. Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off Night Shifts from 18:00 – 06:00 Salary: £17.16 per hour (£15.16 basic + £1 shift allowance and £1 Night Allowance) What you'll be doing: - Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times - Moving trailers safely on and off loading bays throughout the shift. - Supporting yard safety by monitoring, patrolling and maintaining safe yard movements. - Operating a dedicated yard-based shunting vehicle. - Helping ensure trailers are positioned correctly and loaded on time. - Conducting daily checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage and completing associated documentation - Carrying out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff - Completing trailer checklist and reporting to operations desk - Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks - Liaising with the warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading / unloading of trailers - Completing vehicles downloads as per the company policy - Monitoring services / MOTs – liaising with Transport Office and with service vendor - Assisting with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel - Keeping yard in clean / tidy condition - Liaising with Transport Office as and when required i.e. special promotions and / or livery schedules - Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard What we're looking for: - Previous yard shunting experience is strongly preferred. - Someone who wants a dedicated shunting role and understands the pace, safety standards and responsibility of working in a busy yard environment. - Current or previous Class 1 licence experience is preferred - A safety-first approach and confidence moving trailers in a live operational environment. - Reliability, good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a wider transport team.
