The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the preparation of water samples for analysis through filtration and direct plate techniques in line with company protocols. Working closely with other departments to ensure testing timelines are met.
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Tuesday to Saturday 07:00 till 15:00.
- Perform routine tasks in line with our protocols to prepare and analyse water samples. To include filtration and pipetting amongst others.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used for testing, including calibrations and cleanliness.
- Use of the laboratory management system to record and maintain sample traceability data and ensure correct testing is carried out for each sample.
- Ensure accurate labelling, storage and disposal of samples takes place.
- Monitor lab supplies and inventory and restock where required.
- Support with daily quality tasks such as calibration checks, Daily Process Controls, Internal and external quality checks, and custody record completion.
- Collaborate with other team members and show flexibility to help meet demand and achieve the required turnaround time ensuring results are reported on time.
- Adapt an aseptic approach to your working environment and ensure cleanliness and hygiene levels remain at a high standard.
- Take responsibility for your own training records to gain full competency in the tasks you perform and to keep abreast of any updates required. For flexibility this could include tasks from other areas.
- Understand the concept of 5S and adhere to the principles set within your area. Along with following lean production standards.
- Work with the team to drive the department forward through continuous improvement.
- Work with the team to ensure that all waste generated is removed from the lab via the correct waste streams and seek ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Undertake any other reasonable task or responsibility requested by a senior manager.
- Previous laboratory experience desirable but not required as full training provided.
- Experience in a fast-paced working environment and working under pressure to meet demand.
- Computer literate.
- Enthusiastic and able to work efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and organisation skills.
- Good communication skills and a team Player.
