As Service Performance Lead, you will shape and coordinate service-level performance insight, operational MI and cloud financial management for the service you support, acting as a trusted operational partner that enables the service to view, understand, forecast, optimise and govern the operational and financial sustainability of its products and platforms. Working with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Performance and central Technology teams, you will identify, gather and translate performance and infrastructure data into clear recommendations that support planning, prioritisation and informed decision-making on cost-performance improvements and sustainable growth. You will foster a data-driven operational culture across the service, integrating specialist input into a coherent service view and helping transition reporting from tactical and descriptive outputs towards strategic decision support. Everyday responsibilities include: - Shape, improve and deliver service performance reporting, ensuring clear, meaningful measures. - Automate existing manual data collection pipelines for metric reporting and design and build new pipelines where needed, including appropriate version controlling and testing. - Collaborate across and support teams to align KPI frameworks and promote consistency and best practice - Deliver operational and executive reporting that supports informed choices. - Provide evidence-based insights that inform strategic and operational choices. - Provide performance analysis and operational insight to identify trends and improvements. - Ensure reporting and analysis comply with governance, security and data standards. - Partner with FinOps and engineering teams to improve cost visibility and ownership. - Monitor and report on cloud infrastructure costs and trends across AWS services. - Support AWS budgeting, forecasting and infrastructure planning activities. - Create and maintain cost and usage models to support planning and investment decisions. - Use forecasting and scenario analysis to support service growth and capacity planning. - Demonstrate Genomics England's behaviours in all aspects of your work. Essential experience - Experience using data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R or SQL to extract, analyse and present insights. - Experience developing performance analysis, KPIs and reporting that support continuous service improvement. - Experience working in AWS cloud-based environments with an understanding of infrastructure costs, resource utilisation and FinOps approaches.  - Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. - A collaborative and self-motivated approach, with the ability to build strong relationships, work through ambiguity and achieve outcomes.
