AECOM is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our established Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team, part of our Building Engineering Business Line, which is recognised as a leader in sustainable development. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Sustainability & Carbon services for major public and private sector clients, helping them to design and deliver low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates. This role will span a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education and commercial, but most specifically UK Defence & National Security. Key Responsibilities With support from the wider team, you will be responsible for: - Supporting clients to develop and understand their sustainability & decarbonisation requirements. - Developing, delivering, and reviewing whole life carbon reduction strategies for a variety of scoping mechanisms (e.g., Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, RICS, BREEAM etc.). - Liaising directly with clients and designers to develop sustainability & decarbonisation strategies at the outset, implementing these from early design through to construction. - Delivery of assessment certification schemes such as BREEAM and DREAM. LEED and/or WELL experience is advantageous. - Delivery of sustainability appraisals such as SAW and SEEAM. - Supporting project management and programming. - Supporting work winning through the bidding process incl. tender responses. - Mentoring of junior staff where suitable to help upskilling. Requirements: - Good knowledge of the building design and construction process. - Experience of undertaking WLCAs using OneClick LCA, assessment certification schemes especially BREEAM and DREAM, and sustainability appraisals. - Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and apply it to practical sustainability solutions. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information. - High attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving. - Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple projects. - Demonstrated experience of sustainable buildings, low-carbon design, and environmental performance. - An understanding of broader sustainability issues and how these can be mitigated on project. - An understanding of current & future policies and best practice guidance on sustainability and decarbonisation. - Willingness to work on Defence and National Security projects.
