NHS Band 2 Salary: £25,272 per annum Hours Per Week: Full time, 37.5 hours Contract Type: Permanent The Clinical Engineering service is looking to fill a vacancy that exists for a Band 2 Support Worker in their Medical Equipment Library (MEL) team. This is a small team within Clinical Engineering based on F Level at QA Hospital. This is a busy, hands-on role looking after a large, diverse range of medical equipment used throughout a busy NHS Trust. This role in the MEL is key, it can be physically demanding and involves the supply, tracking and retrieval of a wide variety of equipment loans and general medical devices from around the Hospital. Accuracy and record keeping are key as is a wish to provide a good service and to help and support others. Once collected the equipment often needs inspecting, cleaning and processing to get it ready to use to go out again and be used by another Department. The MEL works closely with the technical teams within the wider Clinical Engineering department. Full training will be provided but applicants must be able to demonstrate they can work well either independently or as part of a small team. You must be IT literate, physically active and also keen to help. In return for working here you will be supported with your own training and development needs. Should you need it, further information can be requested from [email protected] For further information about the role please refer to the Job Description - Strong customer service skills. - Computer literate (ability to use a database / existing information system / use of spreadsheets). - Able to lift and carry medical equipment and use a trolley in transporting larger single items or collections of equipment. - Able to learn, understand and follow control of infection policies. Experience Essential: - Has used information systems to record work related information. - Ability to work unsupervised. Desirable: - Previously worked in the NHS or in a medical environment. - Knowledge of the function of a Medical Equipment Library. - Knowledge of general ward-based medical equipment. Personal Qualities Essential: - Able to work on their own initiative and prioritise requests for equipment. - Good interpersonal skills. - Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and trustworthiness. - Willing to be flexible and work well as part of a small team. - Able to work in clinical areas where there are critically unwell patients connected to, and dependant on, medical devices.
