Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm
Salary: £9.00 per hour

Are you practical, hands-on, and looking to build a career in mechanical engineering? SGS is looking for an Apprentice Valve Technician to join our team in Immingham and learn from experienced engineers while gaining valuable industry qualifications.
This is an excellent opportunity to earn while you learn, developing the skills and knowledge needed to maintain, repair, overhaul, and certify industrial valves used across a range of industries. You'll receive on-the-job training, support from experienced colleagues, and the chance to build a long-term career with a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting with valve maintenance, repair, overhaul, and certification activities within the workshop and on customer sites.
- Learning how to safely use engineering tools, equipment, and machinery under the guidance of experienced Mechanical Fitters.
- Supporting the team in dismantling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling valves and related equipment.
- Completing apprenticeship coursework and practical training as required by your training provider with day release for training
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting the completion of job documentation and certification.
- Working closely with experienced engineers and technicians to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- A genuine interest in engineering and mechanical equipment.
- Good practical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence (or working towards obtaining one).
Desirable
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English
- Previous experience through school, college, work experience, hobbies, or practical projects.
- Knowledge or interest in mechanical engineering, fitting, maintenance, or manufacturing.
